How rideskout works

This page shows what you can do on rideskout, by role. rideskout lists places, transporters and requests. It does not provide transport.

Every line has a "Tell us" link. It tells us which line you mean, and we read every one.

Everyone

Anyone who visits rideskout. You don't need an account.

  • E1 You can read any page and search without signing up. Search · Tell us — line E1
  • E2 You can search for a school, workplace, area or place. Search labels each result "place" or "area". Where a school or workplace is needed, areas appear in grey and cannot be picked. Tell us — line E2
  • E3 You can add a place that is missing: search, then pick it from Google Maps. It shows on the site at once, tagged "Pending review". Add a place · Tell us — line E3
  • E4 A "Pending review" place can be found and takes requests. Tell us — line E4
  • E5 You can leave an email when you add a place or an area. We use it once, to tell you it is live. Tell us — line E5
  • E6 "Verified" on a school page means rideskout checked that this school runs that campus. Tell us — line E6
  • E7 "Serves" with a school's name means that school confirmed the transporter serves its campus. It is not a safety check. Tell us — line E7
  • E8 You can report a place, a phone number or a page, with a reason from a list. We read every report. Nothing is hidden automatically. Tell us — line E8
  • E9 You can use "Ask for your city" when rideskout has not opened your city. Places and requests work only in cities rideskout has opened. Ask for your city · Tell us — line E9
  • E10 Nothing on rideskout costs money in the pilot. rideskout takes no bookings, payments or cuts. About the pilot · Tell us — line E10
  • E11 You can see, correct or delete your data. Email us about your data · Privacy · Tell us — line E11
  • E12 A rideskout curator checks each new place: that it is real and in the right city and area. Then the "Pending review" tag goes away. Tell us — line E12

  • T8 Pick-up locations are areas or places in any open city. Drop-off locations are places, like a school or workplace. Edit your page · Tell us — line T8
  • T9 Your pick-up and drop-off lists are separate. rideskout does not turn them into routes. Tell us — line T9

Schools

  • S1 Your school's page may already exist: rideskout creates some pages from public information. To take it over, send a claim. We review every claim. Tell us — line S1
  • S2 Your school gets a private desk after you take over its page and rideskout verifies one of its campuses. Open your desk · Tell us — line S2
  • S3 You can ask rideskout to verify a campus from your page. Only one school can be verified for a campus. Ask to verify · Tell us — line S3
  • S4 Nothing about a campus is public until rideskout verifies it: no contacts, no "Served by", no campaigns. Tell us — line S4
  • S5 Your desk sees requests only for your own campuses. Families see "Only your school sees your details." Tell us — line S5
  • S6 A request stays on your desk until the family withdraws it, or until a year passes without activity. Tell us — line S6
  • S7 You can invite desk staff by email. An invite lasts 14 days. It works for a Google account with that verified email. Only the owner of the desk can invite or remove staff. Open your desk · Tell us — line S7
  • S8 You can start a campaign for a campus. A campaign is a link and a QR poster. You set its closing date; it takes requests until then. Open your desk · Tell us — line S8
  • S9 "Served by" is your own statement of who serves your campus: own fleet, a contracted transporter, or independent transporters. Open your desk · Tell us — line S9
  • S10 We do not check that a transporter you name in "Served by" agrees to it. Tell us — line S10
  • S11 You can confirm a transporter that says it serves your campus. Confirming is not a safety check. You can withdraw it. Tell us — line S11
  • S12 For school pickup, you can approve one transporter at a time. Approving lets you use its drivers. It is not the same as confirming that it serves your campus. You can remove the approval. Tell us — line S12
  • S13 A school can never approve a transport page that it owns, or that its desk staff own. School-run vans use "Own fleet". Tell us — line S13
  • S14 You can run pickup registration: families register who may collect their child, you review it, print pickup cards and use the call list. Tell us — line S14
  • S15 Pickup cards last until the next session starts, plus 14 days. Registrations you do not review within 14 days of closing are rejected. If the school approves a family in the 60 days before a new session starts, its cards stay valid until the end of that new session. Tell us — line S15
  • S16 A school can only assign drivers from transporters it approved. If approval ends, the cards naming those drivers pause at once. Tell us — line S16
